Wow, what a whirlwind! Having just returned home from my third Dreamforce (and first representing Lirik as a Salesforce Partner), I can confidently say that Dreamforce 2024 was a huge success.
With so many sessions, social events, live demos and presentations, it can be hard to narrow down key learnings and action items. Here are my four biggest takeaways from Dreamforce 2024:
AI is Changing the Salesforce Ecosystem
Salesforce has been leading the AI train in the Cloud software world for years, but it has also read the room when it comes to hesitancy over AI – we’ve all seen the memes of ChatGPT giving incorrect answers, zany responses and generally being less than reliable. With the announcement of Agentforce and other AI advancements, Salesforce seeks to give its customers some assurance, backed by the Salesforce Trust layer, that Salesforce AI is reliable, safe and trustworthy.
One use case for Agentforce and AI intelligent automations that really stood out to me was automating document summaries and detail fetching. While a human might take hours to scan through a complex and long policy document, as an example, an Agentforce bot can perform this scan in seconds and provide a clear, correct response to a customer query on the policy or any other document. A simple but effective use-case, I can see this being utilized across industries.
Data is Everything
With all the AI news at Dreamforce, there was also a lot of chatter about data, data quality and Data Cloud. Agentforce and other AI features cannot be expected to perform at a high level without good quality data as a foundation for the LLM’s and Agentforce responses.
Data quality has been top of mind for many Salesforce customers for years, and the trend continues with rising data volumes, additional data sources, requirements for additional real-time analytics, and expanding data governance needs. It is no longer enough to have one source of data that can be relied upon, with companies progressively needing integrated data sources and the ability to harmonize and activate that data to increase Marketing and Sales efforts.
Data Cloud provides this solution, and is an important underpinning of a successful AI journey. The ability to consolidate records from multiple sources to have a true sense of your customer is essential to moving forward with AI and Agentforce capabilities.
Evolution to Core Salesforce Clouds
With so much focus on AI and Agentforce, it was easy to overlook some major shifts and evolutions in the Core CRM Clouds that are the “bread and butter” of Salesforce. Revenue Lifecycle Management continues to grow and evolve, and is especially promising for customers with shifting revenue recognition methods that don’t quite fit with current products like CPQ.
Salesforce showed off many exciting updates to Industry Clouds like Education and Healthcare & Life Sciences . Lirik continues to be a leading Partner in the HLS space, and we were particularly excited for new features in the world of Life Sciences and Pharma. At its core, Salesforce is still the #1 CRM worldwide, and while the main show hyped up Agentforce, we all know that underneath Agentforce is solid CRM foundation, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and other core CRM features.
Leave Room for Fun
When I joined Lirik almost 6 months ago, I knew that I wanted a role where I could utilize my Salesforce experience while also working with a team that knows how to have a good time. Lirik’s customer event and Salesforce appreciation event were hugely successful, and we were able to show off our wonderful Operations team that keeps us ticking.
